New 83,000 sq. ft. concept store brings fashion, lifestyle, and wellness under one roof

Fashion retailer Next has opened a new flagship store at Lakeside Shopping Centre, debuting its first in-store FatFace concession since acquiring the brand in 2023. The 83,000-square-foot location expands Next’s “one-stop shop” concept, blending fashion, beauty, homeware, and coffee all in one experience.

The flagship includes departments for womenswear, menswear, childrenswear, and home, as well as dedicated spaces for Bath & Body Works, Costa Coffee, and now FatFace — the laid-back British label known for casual clothing and accessories.

Concept store reflects a shift in customer experience

According to store manager Natasha Clay, the team spent over a year preparing the store concept. It features modern skylights, atriums, and updated fitting rooms aimed at elevating the customer journey.

“Over the last 12 months, our team has been working hard to prepare for this fantastic new concept store,” Clay said. “Unlike any other Next store, the modern feature kit, open skylight windows, and beautiful décor will offer a unique shopping experience. We’re so excited to welcome customers to our new flagship location.”

Next’s inclusion of integrated fashion concessions like FatFace is designed to offer more value, variety, and convenience to shoppers in one destination.

FatFace adds a lifestyle edge to Next’s mix

The new concession includes its own branded finishes and offers a curated selection of FatFace’s most relevant apparel. It’s the first time FatFace has appeared inside a Next store, and the two teams worked closely on the space.

Karen Johnston, stores director at FatFace, said the collaboration was a chance to expand reach while staying true to the brand.

“We’ve worked closely with the Next team to create a branded space that feels authentically FatFace — relaxed, adventurous, and full of the quality, style, and spirit our customers know and love,” she said. “We’re proud to offer the concession within Next and introduce our collections to even more customers.”

FatFace’s signature clothing — often inspired by the British coast — is now more accessible through the partnership, complementing Next’s broader lifestyle assortment.
